What is Design/Build?
Design/Build is a construction delivery method that provides owners with a single point of contact for both the design and construction phases of a project.

One entity holds single-source responsibility and contractual risk for every aspect of a build which can include anything from estimation, assessments and pre-construction to architecture, schematics, engineering, subcontracting, construction, and post-construction.

This entity, the Design/Builder, manages all contracts with companies, such as subcontractors, equipment vendors and materials providers.

Why RAN?
RAN Fire Protection Engineering is staffed with engineers with years of experience. Our experience has made us confident in our work with other architecture and engineering firms and contractors. We have worked with the majority of architecture firms in New York State, and our national and international experience enabled us to adapt to the needs of every project at hand. Some RAN engineers have worked for construction companies in the past, and this experience with both sides of the desing/build process gives us the knowledge needed to make each project a success. This insight is used to implement standards that all of RAN’s engineers use for public and private projects.

These are the three most important aspects in a Design/Build project:
1. Budget
RAN engineers stick to our client’s budget by setting up goals. Our extensive knowledge of fire protection allows us to find code compliant and less costly solutions to meet those goals.
2. Timetable
Through open communication throughout the project’s entire lifespan, we set aside clear expectations to meet our client’s schedule.
3. Information
Our engineers coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction before the foundation is poured. RAN clearly details the requirements and agreements prior to construction ensuring that the project goes smoothly and meets all necessary requirements.
